Biography

Dr. Logesh joined as a Project Scientist in Coastal and Marine Ecology Division during November 2015 has 07 years of research experience in taxonomy, ecology and bioprospection of mangroves and its associated lichens. He has got his Bachelors and Masters in Microbiology from Periyar University during 2003-2009, later completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Marine Microbiology (2013) from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu and worked at Lichenology Laboratory of CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow for his Ph.D. programme. He worked out the lichens along the mangroves of southeast coast of India for his doctoral thesis. With his academic credentials, he has published 20 research articles on different aspects including lichen systematics, ecology, bio-prospection and environmental pollution in journals of national and international repute along with 2 technical reports and one patent. He discovered two lichen species new to science and described 17 new distributional records for India. Dr. Logesh worked at Mizoram University as Research Associate in a CSIR sponsored project during 2014-2015, explored lichens of Mizoram, Assam and Manipur states of north-eastern India evidenced with publications. He is one of the founder members of Society of Tropical Plant Research and serving as an Editorial Board Member in “Tropical Plant Research” journal and reviewer for various environmental and ecology related journals. He is currently involved in mangroves and other marine monitoring projects at GUIDE and also involved in the lichen study of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
