Biography
Dr. K. Karthikeyan holds his M.Sc., Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. He has 17+ years of Research experience and has Teaching experience as an Adjunct Faculty in KSKV Kachchh University, Bhuj, Government Science College, Mandvi and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He is a University First Rank Holder in Microbiology from Periyar University and has received Awards for Academic Excellence. He has qualified UGC-NET in Environmental Sciences (Lectureship and JRF) in 2007 and Government of Tamilnadu State Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship in Life Sciences in 2008. He is a recipient of Best Environmentalist Award from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in 2009 and Certified for Proficiency in English by Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad. To his credit, he has published 35 Research papers in peer reviewed National and International Journals, 2 book chapters, 50+ Scientific abstracts in National & International Conference proceedings, 25+ Technical reports and he has received 3 Best paper Awards. He has submitted Gene sequences of around 12 bacterial and fungal cultures isolated from White Desert and Mangrove endophytes from Kachchh to the NCBI Database (USA). Currently, four students are working for their Ph.D under him. He has guided 60+ students for their M.Sc. / M. Tech Dissertations in Env. Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology. He is Recognized as a Ph.D Guide by Bharathiar University, Annamalai University and Karpagam University, Tamilnadu and KSKV Kachchh University, Gujarat.
Dr. Karthikeyan was Accredited as Functional Area Expert in Water Pollution Monitoring, Prevention and Control (WP) by National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET)-Quality Council of India, New Delhi during 2015-2019. He is Trained on “Laboratory Management System as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements and Internal Audit”. He is also trained on “Water Hygiene and Toxicity Testing” by Department of Toxicology of Drinking water and Swimming pool water, Federal Environment Agency, Germany.
He is currently working on Bioleaching of Rare Earth Elements; PGPR-Biochar amendments for crop growth enhancement in Hypersaline Soils; Bioaccumulation of trace metal pollutants in fishes. He is associated with various Universities and Institutes of National Importance for Research collaborations and Member of various Academic/Research/Environmental committees. He is a Reviewer for various International Peer-reviewed journals. He is also serving as a Member of the Board of Examiners for Ph.D. of various Universities across India.
