Biography
Dr. Durga Prasad Behera, Project scientist in the Coastal and Marine Ecology Division, holds Ph.D. in Marine Science from P.G Department of Marine Sciences, Berhampur University. He has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Pondicherry University. He has vast experience on Shrimp culture and Seaweed cultivation at ‘Waterbase Ltd’, a largest integrated Aquaculture company of India where he has established Aquaculture techniques and offered Training programme on Shrimp culture to Fishermen communities of Odisha and West Bengal. During his tenure at Marine Algal Research Station of CSMCRI, Mandapam, he has implemented various methods of Seaweed cultivation and also studied on the ‘Environmental implications and Impacts on Large Scale Commercial Farming of Seaweed along the South-Eastern Coast of India’. He has also worked in National Center for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai where he was actively involved in Sustainable Livelihoods Plan for Fishermen of Coastal Sindhudurg Marine ecosystem and Assessment of Socio-ecological sensitivity, Socio-ecological adaptive capacity and Cumulative Vulnerability Index of Sindhudurg. He has published 30 Research papers in reputed National and International peer-reviewed Journals. He has participated in various Training programme and Conferences at National and International level. He has received Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) Award from University Grants Commission, New Delhi during his Doctoral research. One of his Research papers has got the Best Poster Presentation Award from “Fourth Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC 2017)”.
