Biography

Dr. G. Jayanthi, Scientist in Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Division of the Institute holds her B.Sc. in Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology and M.Sc., M. Phil in Botany from Bharathiar University and Ph. D from Centre for Advanced studies in Botany, University of Madras, Chennai. She has been awarded the Meritorius Post-Doctoral Fellowship by University Grant Commission, New Delhi for a period of 5 years. Dr. G. Jayanthi has Research experience of 14 years and Teaching experience of 1 year as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore and 4 years as Adjunct Faculty in KSKV Kachchh University, Bhuj. She has guided more than 20 Undergraduate and Post-graduate students of Science and Engineering discipline for their Dissertation. To her credit, she has 8 papers in peer reviewed National and International journals of repute, a Book chapter. She has presented research papers in various National and International Conferences in which two of her research papers are awarded with Best Paper Awards. She has also contributed few popular articles in Newsletter and magazines. Further, from her Research work, a total of 15 gene sequences of Endophytic fungal strains have been submitted to NCBI database. Currently she is working on Biosynthesis of low-cost Microbial Polymers, Biotherapeutic potential of Medicinal Mushrooms. She is also actively involved in conducting training programmes on Cultivation of Button mushroom, White Oyster and Grey Oyster mushroom and Medicinal mushroom Cordyceps militaris (Himalayan Gold). She is involved in extension activities and conducting training programmes on “Hydroponics” and “Vermicomposting techniques”.
