Creeks and Estuaries

Coastal realm of Gulf of Kachchh is home for many creek systems and ephemeral estuaries with their unique ecological and environmental characters. Investigating their ecological setting through monitoring of its physical, chemical and biological parameters is the objective of many projects which characterized them thoroughly. Since these creek systems support extensive mangrove formation and simultaneously many industries are located among these anatomising creeks investigating their ecological milieu has enabled us to conserve the creek environs in a better manner. Creek systems such as Kori, Sindhodi, Kandla, Baradimata, Kotadi, Navinal and Hansthal spread along the 406 km length of Kachchh have been investigated for their chemical, physical and biological characters and documented through reports.
